Job Vacancy - Coventry-4-Good Action Team Leader Closing Date 10th July 2017

Voluntary Action Coventry have secured funding through the Armed Forces Covenant Fund to develop a project aimed at helping ex-service personnel and their families to integrate with civilian communities through the sharing of time, skills and resources.
The project will help integrate Armed Forces and civilian communities by creating strong sustainable links between the Armed Forces community and civilian communities in Coventry. Through Coventry 4 Good we can demonstrate that by working together there is a shared benefit that impacts positively on both the civilian and Armed Forces communities.
The project will bring people together to tackle local issues or to participate in joint activity where the skills and time volunteered by everyone involved are recognised and valued. Collaborating in this way will help overcome barriers that prevent integration of Armed Forces personnel, by increasing the social integration, emotional wellbeing and health of Armed Forces personnel and their families.
We are now recruiting for the Coventry 4 Good Action Team Leader who will be responsible for building links with local barracks and TA centres - in particular to help identify early service leavers; recruiting participants onto the project and for liaising with voluntary and community groups to identify suitable activities. AFF Reassured about Housing Safety for Army Families

AFF reassured about housing safety for Army families

Following the tragic incident at Grenfell Tower in London, the Army families Federation (AFF) has approached the Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO), to clarify whether multi-storey Service Families Accommodation (SFA) features any external cladding, which would potentially present a fire risk.

Safety assured
DIO checked the position of this issue and were able to inform AFF that multi-storey buildings are predominantly brick construction. The external wall insulation used on recent energy efficiency upgrades to military housing has also been confirmed as meeting all relevant building and fire regulations.

AFF Housing Specialist Cat Calder said, “Ensuring the safety of our Army families is paramount and AFF has received assurances of safety from all relevant parties involved. DIO has also advised us that a review will now be carried out of all non-habitable areas such as stairwells, plant rooms and communal areas, to confirm the safety of the Army families living there.”

Contact AFF
If families are at all concerned about safety in their SFA, they should contact housing maintenance and repairs contractor CarillionAmey (CA) directly on 0800 707 6000 or contact AFF’s Housing Specialist Cat Calder on
